Awesome Algorithm

Below is an explanation of an algorithm that changed the world.

Google's Pagerank Algorithm

Google's famous PageRank algorithm was created in 1996 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin to help rank the web pages on the ever-expanding world wide web. The algorithm ranks each web page based on the quantity of references from other web pages; the more one web page is referred to by other web pages, the better ranking it gets. Web pages with the highest ranking would show up first when using Google's original search engine. Ideally, the most popular, trusted web pages would be easily accessible to users searching the web for information. However, the creators found that this mechanism to rank pages could be manipulated; those who wanted their web pages to show up first could simply link to that page as many times as possible . While PageRank was the basis for Google's search engine back when it was founded, it is only one of the many algorithms used today by the tech giant.
